New Year... New Resolution... New Email Address

Every year, at the beginning of the new year, people have new years resolutions… (is it new years or new year’s?… hmmm, I’ll have to look into that… one second)…

Anyway, every year, people have new year’s resolution, but what exactly does this mean?


Literally, it means that you “resolve” in the “new year” to do something; usually, this means you set out to accomplish something by the end of the year.

Sounds like a fancy word for a “goal” if you ask me.

Shooting Near East 138th Street and Brook Ave in the Bronx

On scene reports of a shooting near East 138th Street in the Bronx. Eyewitnesses report that an individual was shot around the corner from the Camagüey Restaurant at 514 East 138th Street, a Honduran restaurant where the victim fled to after being shot. Blood was visible on the sidewalk outside of the T-Mobile store adjacent to the restaurant, where police had cordoned off the area with yellow caution tape.

Back in the 1980s, when DNA forensic analysis was still in its infancy...

...crime labs needed a speck of bodily fluid — usually blood, semen or spit — to generate a genetic profile. 

That changed in 1997, when Australian forensic scientist Roland van Oorschot stunned the criminal justice world with a nine-paragraph paper titled “DNA Fingerprints from Fingerprints.”
