New York Today: Audible, Our Kentucky Derby Star

This was the headline for a NY Times email I received this morning in my inbox.

And, it's been 15 years since I graduated college, today, to the day...

How do I know this? And what does one have to do with the other?

Simple. I graduated on Saturday, May 3, 2003, and that was the day of the Kentucky Derby that year.

The Kentucky Derby is an annual reminder for me that yet another year has passed since I graduated college.

And since today is Thursday, May 3, 2018, that's 15 years, to the day, since I graduated from college.

I'm a Floridian by birth, but I'm a New Yorker by right: my entire family are New York Italians who raised me that way, and I never felt much like a Floridian, always more like a New Yorker -- as an aside, now grown up, I consider myself both.

UPDATE: I’ve moved back to Florida.
